About
I love to be outside, even when it's hotter than Hell out. Which is a good amount of the time around here. I was born in the north west but can't seem to get out of the south west. I married the most incredible woman that would talk to me, she's from the Midwest. She taught me the proper way to grill a filet, no offense dad and grandpa. When my daughter started taking care of a lettuce stump, we rescued a boxer dog.
I enjoy the study of light through the medium of photography. What can I say, its fun. It allows perspective and insight into my subject’s lives. They make it interesting. I love the fact that everyday brings me the opportunity to meet and photograph new people.
I’ve almost been done in by charging javalinas, a 20x20 suspended silk in the wind, several 2400 watt packs hanging from a 30-foot ceiling, wobbly ladders, water and electricity (never good together), pit bulls, passing cars, speeding motorcycles and drunk, disorderly people. All while doing what I love.
Had the pleasure of working on hundreds of photoshoots with other photographers around the country. I’ve been asked to load film, clean lenses, fix cameras, fix computers, drive cars, deliver equipment, food and coffee, wrangle pets (cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, birds, etc.), watch kids, ride motorcycles, carry thousands of pounds of stuff, move furniture, clean floors, clean pools, clean cars and, of course, windows.
Lived through 8-track tapes, LP vinyl, cassette, beta, laserdisc, video arcades, midnight movies, flow charts, VHS, floppy disc, keggers, after hours, compact disc, CD-RW. Yeah, you can say it, I’m getting up there.
The things that keep me going now are mountain biking, yoga (Ashtanga, yikes!), music, especially metal, punk and alternative before it was called alternative. Climbing, mountains, old cameras and the people that use them. Cooking, especially anything that involves fire and meat. Concerts, a good film, carne asada, pico de gallo and ice cream.
